The Vipassana Association of Greece is organising a free public screening of the award-winning documentary Doing Time, Doing Vipassana on Wednesday, 23 September 2026, at 19:00, at Kypseli Municipal Market in Athens.
The film documents the introduction of Vipassana courses at Tihar Prison in New Delhi, where thousands of prisoners took part in the practice of meditation.
Through the personal experiences of the participants, the documentary explores the possibility of change through awareness, self-observation and inner discipline. At the same time, it raises questions that extend beyond the prison environment: can a person fundamentally change the way they relate to themselves and to others? And how far can personal transformation go through a sustained practice of self-observation?
The screening will be followed by an open discussion with the audience, focusing on the film, the issues it raises and the experience of Vipassana.
The event is open to everyone.
